Walking - April 19, 2008

Ok, I'm slacking a bit. I didn't get a chance to walk on Friday or Sunday but I did walk 3 miles Saturday in the blistering heat. Someone should really think of planting trees along the calcium trail. There is 100% no shade on any of it. Anybody who wants a nice paved and shaded trail with beautiful views of the river head over to the black river trail. You can access it from either Rt. 3N right after the bridge heading towards the village or Black River from Watertown or Huntington Street, right from Rt. 3N right before the bridge by the water treatment plant and then just follow the road until you see the signs.

For those of you reading this group blog, you might find it easier to read everyone's posts by clicking here -- it's just a different view. And if there are comments on a post, you can see that in the header and click on a link to easily view them.

While not a true substitute for the JCWB, the blog does at least provide us with an outlet when the board is temporarily down. It's a change of pace -- one I am hoping that, over time, will become more integrated with the JCWB.

Meanwhile, we've got 4 members who have decided to jump into the field of citizen journalism -- I'm looking forward to see what they come up with. Mama Moose, I don't know if you saw my post regarding your assignment -- I will forward you some E-Mails later which may help you out. I'll be working on a commercial for our "newz" blog this week -- hopefully we'll be able to unveil the whole thing sometime next week.

Meanwhile, we're still down. We got an E-Mail from our host advising us of an upgrade right around the time we went down -- the timing is a little suspicious, so we're waiting to see if that's what happened. I'll post another update later today. MÊL

Walking - April 17, 2008

I will be updating this post later today with the time and songs but this is the route I will be taking. I plan on going in the morning as I have night classes today. Thank God for all this beautiful weather!

Also, one other useful thing. Check out MapMyRun.com. If you do any regular or occasional walking, running, jogging, biking, ect., you can track your routes and progress on this site absolutely free. You can keep your maps totally private. It will calculate, with a little input from you, your progress such as calories used as well as several other factors. If you do make your maps public others in the area will be able to view them and use the same routes as well. Share your routes with friends and family and maybe even walk together.

Walking - April 16, 2008

So I've been trying to come up with something to use this Blog for. It's probably clear by now that I don't write much so I've come up with a use. Starting today (well yesterday by now) I plan on walking a minimum of 2 miles every day. I will post my chosen route here along with a list of songs that I listened to along the way. I will not be walking if it is raining so I'll have to think of something creative for those days.
